Browne of Betchworth Castle, Surrey

No reason to believe these are related to Browne, Viscount Kenmare or Browne of Awney, Co.Limerick.




Sir Thomas Browne (see here), born 1402,
mar c.1437 to Alianor Arundel [descendant of Edward I],
lived at Betchworth Castle, near Dorking, Surrey (see map),
executed for treason on 20 July 1460,
had issue:


  1. Sir Anthony Browne (see here),
    born 1443, Betchworth Castle, Surrey,
    mar 2ndly, 1499, to Lucy Neville [descendant of Edward III],
    he died 1506 at Calais,
    she died 1534, apparently buried with first husband in Yorkshire,
    had issue by 2nd wife:

    1. Elizabeth Browne, mar pre-1527 to Henry Somerset, 2nd Earl of Worcester and had issue.

    2. Sir Anthony Browne, born post-1499.


  2. Katherine Browne, mar Humphrey Sackville and had issue.
