9th Earl of Ormonde

James Butler, 9th Earl of Ormonde (see here), born c.1496,
poisoned in London 1546 [NOT 1549], bur London,
his heart is bur in St.Canice's Cathedral, Kilkenny, effigy in SE corner is supposed to be him,
had issue:

1. Thomas Butler, 10th Earl of Ormonde.

   
   

2. Edmond Butler,
   ancestor (through illegitimacy) of the Butler Baronets, of Cloughgrenan,
   ancestors of (see [Roberts, 2008]):
   1. Pierce Butler, born 1744,
      American Founding Father, signer of the US Constitution.

   
   

3. John Butler,
   of Kilcash, Kilcash par, SE Co.Tipperary (see Kilcash Castle in [Irish Country Houses, Supplement]),
   had issue:
   1. Walter Butler, 11th Earl of Ormonde, Catholic,
      mar Helen Butler [or Ellen],
      she died 1632, he died 1632 [think NOT 1633], both bur St.Canice's, Kilkenny [according to records, no visible monument],
      had issue:
      1. Thomas Butler, Viscount Thurles, Catholic,
         drowned at sea 1619,
         had issue:
         1. James Butler, 1st Duke of Ormonde, and 12th Earl of Ormonde, Protestant.

         2. Mary Butler, mar Sir George Hamilton, 1st Baronet and had issue.

         3. Richard Butler of Kilcash, Co.Tipperary [Kilcash Castle built 1639].
