Richard Butler (see here), of Kilcash, Co.Tipperary,
the Kilcash branch were Catholic,
had issue:

Walter Butler, had issue:

  1. Thomas Butler of Kilcash,
    mar Margaret Bourke [Catholic],
    she died 1744,
    the poem Caoine Cill Chais (and here) is a lament for her,
    had issue:

    1. Honora Butler,
      or Honoria, Catholic,
      mar Nov 1720 to Valentine Browne, 3rd Viscount Kenmare and had issue.
      See poem written on their marriage by Aodhagán Ó Rathaille.
      At this stage Kilkenny Castle and the estates were still in the possession of the attainted 2nd Duke, but they would eventually come to her branch of the family.

    2. John Butler, 15th Earl of Ormonde (see here).

  2. John Butler, had issue:

    1. Walter Butler, 16th Earl of Ormonde.
      Ancestor of Marquesses of Ormonde of Kilkenny Castle.
