in 1895, his furious father called Wilde a sodomite,
Lord Alfred encouraged Wilde to sue his own father for libel,
Wilde stupidly agreed,
the defence, of course, discovered all about
Wilde's gay love life, and not only did the libel case fail,
but Wilde was then charged with homosexual acts (then illegal),
Wilde defended "The love that dares not speak its name",
but he couldn't change the law and got 2 years in jail.
