Edward Lloyd,
of Trefnant Hall, SW of Welshpool, C Wales,
born Trefnant.

He apparently descends from the Welsh monarch Iestyn ab Gwrgant.

He mar est c.1775 to Catherine Maurice [or Katherine, born est c.1745-50, Maesmor Hall].
She was dau of Rev. Peter Maurice of Maesmor, son of Rev. Peter Maurice by his wife Catherine Maesmor of Maesmor.
Catherine Maesmor is direct male-line descendant of Owain Brogyntyn.
Owain Brogyntyn is descendant of Edward the Elder and of Lady Godiva.
Catherine Maurice was a young widow, had no issue from her 1st mar.
She was co-heiress of Maesmor, Denbighshire, N Wales.

Daughters born at Maesmor, 1776 to 1783.
[1841 census] says daughters not born in same county as Maesmor, but think that is an error. Other census returns say they were born in Llangwm parish (Maesmor).
Edward was Sheriff of Merionethshire 1781-82.
Kalendar of Gwyedd lists "Edward Lloyd Esq. of Maesmore, High Sheriff of Merionethshire 5 February 1781".
He is described as "Capt. Lloyd" at his dau Emma's death.
He died 7 Jan 1819, Shrewsbury.
Catherine died Maesmor Hall.
Edward and Catherine had issue:


  1. Catherine Lloyd,
    born 1776, Maesmor Hall, eldest daughter,
    bapt 2 Dec 1776, Llangwm church (the church for Maesmor),
    Catherine Mary Margaretta, think NOT Catherine Maria Margaretta, NOT Katherine,
    "Catherine Mary Margaretta" at 1st mar and when proved 2nd husband's will,
    "Catherine" in [Census, 1841], and "Catherine M.M." in [Census, 1851].
    Her father died 1819.
    She was co-heiress of Maesmor and Trefnant.

    She mar 1stly, 14 July 1820, to Major John Lewis Parry [born 7 Aug 1775].
    She was age 43. He was age 44.
    They mar at St Chad's Church, Shrewsbury.
    He died 1822.

    She mar 2ndly, 15 Jan 1829, to John Manners Kerr [born 30 Oct 1766], no issue.
    She was age 52. He was age 62.
    They married at Llangwm church.
    They lived at Maesmor Hall.


  2. Emma Lloyd,
    born Maesmor Hall,
    bapt 18 June 1778, Llangwm church.
    Not listed at Maesmor Hall in 1841 or 1851 census.
    Her sister Catherine (who lived at Maesmor Hall) died in Apr 1859.
    Emma is apparently living at Maesmor Hall with other unmarried sisters in October 1859.
    She and sisters are listed in 1861 census as living Maesmor Hall. All unmarried. Their step-niece Jane Parry is with them. They have 10 servants.
    She died 7 Mar 1864, Maesmor, age 85 yrs.
    She was bur 14 Mar 1864, Llangwm church.


  3. Jane Lloyd,
    born Maesmor Hall,
    bapt 18 Sept 1780, Llangwm church.
    In 1841 census she is living Maesmor Hall with sister Grace and sister Catherine and her husband.
    In 1851 census she is living Maesmor Hall, with sister Grace and widowed sister Catherine. She is unmarried.
    Her sister Catherine died 1859.
    She continued living at Maesmor Hall.
    In 1861 census she is living Maesmor Hall with sisters. She is unmarried.
    She died June 1871, age 90 yrs.
    She was bur 24 June 1871, Llangwm church.


  4. Grace Lloyd,
    Grace Lewis Lloyd,
    born Maesmor Hall,
    bapt 2 Apr 1783, Llangwm church.
    In 1841 census she is living Maesmor Hall with sister Jane and sister Catherine and her husband. She is "Grace Lewis" but it must be her.
    In 1851 census she is living Maesmor Hall, with sister Jane and widowed sister Catherine. She is unmarried.
    In 1861 census she is living Maesmor Hall with sisters. She is unmarried.
    She is listed in 1871 census at Maesmor Hall. She is unmarried. She is "Landowner and Farmer of 109 acres". She has 8 servants. William Kerr and his wife Elizabeth Parry are also at Maesmor, with one servant.
    She died 26 Dec 1872, age 89 yrs.
    She was bur 1 Jan 1873, Llangwm church.
    She left Trefnant Hall farm and other lands to her step-niece Jane Parry.
