    Sydney James William La Fontaine, think NOT Sidney, born 1846.
    The Sydney La Fontaine Oriental carpet manufacturing company, Smyrna, was established 1880.
    He mar Edith Amelia Whittall [born 1860].
    The Sydney La Fontaine carpet company merged in 1908 into the Oriental Carpet Manufacturers company.
    The house referred to in [Kalcas, 1983] as the Aliberti House, Bornova, "was known for some time as the Sidney La Fontaine home". This must be him or his son. "The house was sacked during the war of 1922."
