"Barfield"

Rockbarton, on the seafront, Salthill, Co.Galway (just outside Galway).

Barfield, summer 1917.
See full size.

"Barfield" acquired by James O'Mara as summer home,
there as at 1917-19,
the story is he named it after Barefield (thus spelt), N of Ennis, Co.Clare, since he had met his wife Agnes Cashel at a party there,
but [Lavelle, 1961] says they met at a dance at Hartstonge House,
the O'Maras left "Barfield" when bought Cashel House, Co.Galway, 1919,
old building standing in 1960s, was a hotel,
think the old building is now demolished,
think site is now "Rockbarton Park Hotel", 5/7 Rockbarton Park, Salthill, a small hotel in a housing estate.
