von Trapp

The family that Connie O'Mara married into is definitely the famous von Trapps:
  1. Connie junior knew the singing family, her 1st cousins, and complained that the movie about them was inaccurate.
  2. The invitation to Connie O'Mara's wedding 1914 is signed by "Agathe Trapp" and her Whitehead relations.
  3. [Anderson, 1998] mentions "Aunt Connie", Irish, widow of Werner, with a daughter.

The only question is whether Connie was a governess too, like Maria.

Baron August von Trapp,
or August Ritter von Trapp,
"Ritter" means "Sir" or "Knight", and "von" means rank of nobility,
the English equivalent of his hereditary title is often given as "Baron", but the correct equivalent is "Sir August von Trapp, Baronet",
born August Trapp, Bad Homburg, Germany, 1836 (see here),
Catholic,
Commandant in Austro-Hungarian Navy (formed 1867, bases on Adriatic),
mar Hedwig Wepler,
his exploits at sea earned the family in 1876 the rank of nobility and a hereditary title,
the "von" did NOT come in with his son Georg but rather with the father, as shown by August's gravestone, which says: "August Ritter von Trapp",
he died 1884, age 48 yrs,
bur Austrian Naval Cemetery, Pula, Croatia (then in Austro-Hungarian Empire),
had issue:

  1. Hede von Trapp, noted artist,
    Hedwig, born 1877, Pula,
poet, painter and graphic designer of Art Nouveau,
died 1947, Austria, age 70 yrs.

  2. Baron Georg von Trapp,
or Georg Ritter von Trapp, of the famous singing family,
    pron. "Gayorg",
born 1880, Zadar, Croatia (then in Austro-Hungarian Empire).

  3. Baron Werner von Trapp,
    or Werner Ritter von Trapp,
    younger son, born est c.1884,
in German and Austrian nobility, all the sons have the title, not just the eldest son,
    mar 9th June 1914, Austria, to Connie O'Mara [born 8th Sept 1891],
she was supposed to have gone to Vienna, Austria, as a governess, married the son of the house,
this is (suspiciously) the same story as that of Maria,
on the other hand, Connie did marry him, and what was she doing there if not a governess?,
Werner was killed 1915 in WWI, age est c.31 yrs,
Connie was married, mother and widow all in one year,
    had issue:

    1. Connie von Trapp,
      Connie junior, Constance, born 1915-16,
Muffie de Courcy met her c.1940, remembered her riding a horse bareback,
lived Bastiengasse 56/3, Vienna 1180, Austria (see map),
Etienne Rynne met her there 1957,
mar c.1959 (post-1957) to Oskar Hagl [NOT Hegel], no issue,
      they lived Bastiengasse 56/3, Vienna,
apparently she was allowed keep the name "von Trapp" after marriage, since she was the only von Trapp left in Vienna (after the singing family had fled to America 1938),
he was an invalid, she had to nurse him,
      she visited Ireland 1961,
she died think c.1969, age c.53-54 yrs.
