Most of the extended Co.Kerry family became "Rahilly" by the 19th century.
Most of the extended Co.Kerry family reverted back to "O'Rahilly" in the Irish nationalist revival of the 20th century, following the lead of The O'Rahilly.

there are a number of different Rahillys mentioned at the time of the poet in the [Kenmare Manuscripts] so they were not new to Co.Kerry,

she was poss. of Pallis, Co.Kerry,
she was of the MacEgans, hereditary brehons (judges) to MacCarthy Mor, Prince of Desmond [which family founded Muckross Abbey, Killarney, early 1300s, e.g. see Evelyn MacCarthy Mor, died post-1560, bur Muckross Abbey],
had issue:

Aodhagán Ó Rathaille, one of the last of the Gaelic poets,
born c.1675, named after his mother's brehon family.
Morgan O'Rahilly of Raheen, Co.Kerry, born est c.1680.
