John Barrett,
bapt 1 June 1862, Ballylongford, Co.Kerry.
He was brought to Glin, Co.Limerick, by his aunt Margaret Patt, where he was trained to be a baker.
He was a baker in Glin.
He ran bakery on Lower Mall, Glin.
He baked for local convent, and then for local industrial school.
He (rather than his father) would be the John Barrett who sp bapt of his 1st cousin's child John Fitzgerald in Glin in 1895.
He mar 1900 to Catherine Culhane [born 1867, or 1869].
They are listed in 1901 census in Glin village. He is "bread baker".
They are listed in 1911 census in Main St, Glin. He is "baker".
Listed as "baker" at son's mar 1936.
Catherine died 30 Mar 1940, age 71 or 73 yrs.
John died 4 Nov 1954, age 92 yrs.
They are bur Barrett grave, Lislaughtin Abbey.
They had issue:


  1. Catherine Barrett,
    Kitty, born Jan 1901, Co.Limerick (age 2 months in census of 31 March 1901),
    did not marry,
    lived with brother John in Barrett house in Ballylongford,
    died 26 May 1981, age 80 yrs, bur Barrett grave, Lislaughtin Abbey.

  2. John Barrett,
    Johnny, born 1903, Co.Limerick,
    did not marry,
    lived with sister Kitty in Barrett house in Ballylongford,
    died 18 Dec 1977, age 74 yrs, bur Barrett grave, Lislaughtin Abbey.


  3. Tommy Barrett,
    Thomas, Tom, twin, born 1904, Co.Limerick.
    He would be Thomas Barrett who wit his brother James' wedding 1936.
    He mar Mary Hanley [born Sept 1925 in Kilcornan, Co.Limerick].
    He inherited the family bakery and shop, Glin.
    Lived Main St, Glin.
    After his unmarried aunt and uncle died, around 1960s, he and his brother James paid off the family and bought out the Barrett house in Ballylongford for their unmarried brother and sister to live in.
    He died 11 June 1987, age 83 yrs.
    She died 3 Oct 2002, age 77 yrs.
    They are both bur Barrett grave, Lislaughtin Abbey.
    They had issue:

    1. Marie Barrett, mar Donnie Kennedy and had issue:
      1. Laura Kennedy.
      2. Robert Kennedy.
    2. John Barrett.
    3. Stephen Barrett.


  4. Michael Barrett,
    twin, born 1904, Co.Limerick,
    died young, before 1911, bur Glin.

  5. Mary Barrett, born 1906, Co.Limerick,
    mar John McSweeney ["Sonny"], no issue,
    lived Church St, Glin,
    he died 13 Sept 1972,
    she died 17 Aug 1985, age 79 yrs,
    both bur Kilfergus Cemetery, near Glin.


  6. James Barrett,
    James Christopher Barrett, Jim,
    born 11 Dec 1907 (NOT 1908) in Glin.


  7. Elizabeth Barrett,
    Lizzie [NOT Kitty],
    born 3 Mar 1909, Glin,
    mar Dan Kearney [born 1903, Moyvane, nr Listowel, Co.Kerry],
    they lived in Moyvane, Co. Kerry,
    she died 24 Dec 1987 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry, age 78 yrs,
    he died 30 Oct 1996, age 93 yrs,
    had issue:

    1. Austin Kearney, mar Sinead O'Brien and had issue:
      1. David Kearney.
      2. Ronan Kearney, mar Julia Cordi.
    2. Kitty Kearney, mar Maurice C. Wallis.

  8. Stephen Barrett, born pre-1911,
    died young, before 1911, bur Glin.


  9. Stephen Barrett,
    second Stephen, born 1911.
    He was educ UCD. B.A. and H.Dip.Ed.
    "B.E." in Irish on grave ("Baitsiléir Ealaíne", or Bachelor of Arts).
    "A.T.O." in Irish on grave ("Ard-Teastas in Oideachas", or Higher Diploma in Education).
    He was "a famous footballer". He won a Sigerson Cup Medal with UCD.
    He taught at St. Xavier's School, Donnybrook, Co.Dublin.
    He taught English and Mathematics at Dun Laoghaire Vocational School.
    He died after an illness while studying for an MA degree in UCD.
    He died 28 July 1935, age 24 yrs.
