John Rahilly,
of Knockearagh (or Knockeragh), Killarney parish (see map).
He mar Joan McCarthy [dau of Cormac McFlorry McCarthy of Headfort, Aghadoe parish, Co.Kerry].
John Rahilly is listed in [Griffiths Valuation, 1852] as occupying 40 acres (with a house) in Knockearagh, leased from Thomas H. Mayberry.
[1910 letter from The O'Rahilly] says: "A very positive statement that met me everywhere was that old John Rahilly, of Knockearagh, was Egan's great grandnephew".
The letter says that John of Knockearagh "was the senior authority for the identification of Donal 'ac Murchadha's tomb" [in Muckross Abbey] and "All were agreed that Egan the poet is buried in the same grave".
John and Joan had issue:


  1. Thomas Rahilly,
    Tom, of Teernaboul (or Tiernaboul), Killarney parish (see map),
    mar Elizabeth O'Neill [or Neill, of Firies, Kilnanare parish],
    had issue:
    1. John Rahilly, died without issue.
    2. Daniel Rahilly, or Donal, of Killarney.
    3. Michael Joseph Rahilly, died without issue.
    4. Thomas Rahilly, Tom, of Knockearagh.

  2. John Rahilly,
    of Cummeen, Tuosist parish, nr Kenmare, SW Co.Kerry,
    mar Honoria Galvin [dau of Andrew Galvin of Knocknahoe, Killarney par],
    she is "Hanoria" in [King, 1910],
    had issue:
    1. John Rahilly.

  3. Michael Rahilly, of Knockearagh,
    mar Hannah O'Connor [or Connor, dau of John O'Connor of Glananeagh (unidentified)],
    had issue:

    1. John Rahilly,
      emigrated to US before 1910.

    2. Margaret Rahilly.
    3. Mary Rahilly.
    4. Ellen Rahilly.

  4. Timothy Rahilly, Tim, died without issue.
  5. Daniel Rahilly, died without issue.
