John Rahilly,
of Knockearagh (or Knockeragh), Killarney parish (see map).
He mar Joan McCarthy [dau of Cormac McFlorry McCarthy of Headfort, Aghadoe parish, Co.Kerry].
John Rahilly is listed in [Griffiths Valuation, 1852] as occupying 40 acres (with a house) in Knockearagh, leased from Thomas H. Mayberry.
[1910 letter from The O'Rahilly] says: "A very positive statement that met me everywhere was that old John Rahilly, of Knockearagh, was Egan's great grandnephew".
The letter says that John of Knockearagh "was the senior authority for the identification of Donal 'ac Murchadha's tomb" [in Muckross Abbey] and "All were agreed that Egan the poet is buried in the same grave".
John and Joan had issue:

   mar Hannah O'Connor [or Connor, dau of John O'Connor of Glananeagh (unidentified)],
   had issue:
   1. John Rahilly,
      emigrated to US before 1910.

  He mar Margaret Neil [born 1834, or poss.1839, Co.Kerry, illiterate].
  He died pre-1901.
  She is listed in 1901 census as widow and "farmer" at Knockearagh. She has an unidentified young nephew James Regan, and an elderly "farm servant" called Daniel Rahilly.
  "Margaret of Knockearagh" is listed among living families in [King].
  She is listed in 1911 census as widow and "farmer" at Knockearagh.
  Thomas and Margaret had issue:
  1. Thomas O'Rahilly, of Knockearagh,
     born Thomas Rahilly, 19 Jan 1874, Knockearagh [GROI].
     Listed as "Rahilly", living with mother at Knockearagh in 1901 and 1911 census, unmarried.
     Listed as farmer, Knockearagh, at mar.
     He mar 4 Mar 1916 to Bridget Cahill [Brigid, dau of Patrick Cahill, farmer].
     Bridget is listed as farmer, living Kilcummin parish, at mar.
     This is probably her family listed in 1911 census at Knockaninane East.
     Thomas and Bridget mar at Kilcummin RC church [GROI].
     Thomas is listed as farmer, of Kilcummin, at death.
     He died Tralee hospital, 29 Aug 1935, age 61 yrs [GROI].
     He was bur Muckross Abbey, Killarney.
     He is still "Rahilly" on death cert, but "O'Rahilly" on grave.
     Bridget died 12 Jan 1961, bur Muckross Abbey.

     She was living Knocknahoe at mar.
     They lived Knocknahoe, there by son's birth 1883.
     He is listed as "labourer" at children's births 1883-1889.
     They are both listed in 1911 census at Knocknahoe. He is "general labourer".
     They had issue:
     1. Michael Rahilly, born 13 Oct 1883, Knocknahoe [GROI],
        listed with parents in 1911 census, listed as "labourer".

     2. Jane Rahilly, born 15 Jan 1889, Knocknahoe [GROI],
        listed with parents in 1911 census.
