Barrington of England, and of Glenstal, Co.Limerick

John Barrington, had issue:

Sir Thomas Barrington,
of Barrington Hall, Essex,
mar 2ndly to Winifred Pole [born est c.1515, descendant of Edward III and of Aoife Mac Murrough]
and had issue:

  1. Sir Francis Barrington, 1st Baronet,
mar Joan Cromwell [aunt of Oliver Cromwell] and had issue.

Sir Henry Sidney said that John (below), who received land in Ireland, was descended from Barrington of Barrington Hall. [Burkes Extinct Baronetage] has him directly as a son of Thomas and Winifred (above), but [Barrington, 1917] has him in a different part of the family (i.e. with no Royal Descent).

John Barrington, born est c.1535,
received grant of lands in Ireland from Elizabeth I in 1558 [Burkes Extinct Baronetage],
grant of Cullenagh, Queen's County, 1564 [Fiants of Queen Elizabeth].

Barrington papers in [Glenstal] claim to show descent from John (above) to Samuel (below), of Limerick. See also article in North Munster Antiquarian Journal, c.1955, reprinted in Barrington issue of Old Limerick Journal, c.1990.

Samuel Barrington, born est c.1650,
settled Limerick, Ireland, 1691.
Ancestor of Barrington of Glenstal, Co.Limerick.
