mar Susannah Sandle [born 1801, Assington, Suffolk],
can't find them in [UK census, 1841]
he is listed as "farmer", living Falkenham, Suffolk (see map) at dau's birth 1843,
can't find them in [UK census, 1851]
John Ruffles, farmer, Trimley St. Mary, is listed in [White's Directory of Suffolk, 1855] in the combined section on Trimley St. Mary and Trimley St. Martin, Suffolk,
he is also listed in 1855 as a corn miller at Woodbridge Tide Mill, Woodbridge, Suffolk,
he is listed in [UK census, 1861] as living Farm House, apparently 66 Trimley St, Trimley St. Mary, Suffolk (see map), he is listed as "Farmer Of 165 Acres Employing 5 Men & 2 Boys", they have 1 servant,
at death he is listed as John Ruffles, miller and farmer, formerly of Trimley St. Mary, Suffolk, late of Trimley St. Martin, Suffolk,
died 20 Feb 1863, Trimley St. Martin [GRO.UK], age 69 yrs or 71 yrs,
will pr at Ipswich, 25 May 1863, by Susannah Ruffles of Ipswich, widow,
the executors are Joseph Wells and his son Joseph Leonard Wells (who later married Ruffles' daughter),
see notice about admin of estate in The Times, 17 Aug 1863,
he is listed as "miller" at dau's mar 1865,
Susannah is listed in [UK census, 1871] as widow, age 70, living 83 Victoria Street, St Matthew's Parish, Ipswich (see map), living with one servant and a lodger, she is listed as "Landed And House Proprietor",
had issue:


  1. Eliza Jane Ruffles,
    born "Mary Jane", 12 noon, 27th Oct 1843, Falkenham, Suffolk [GRO.UK],
    NOT born Stow district,
    at mar 1865 she is listed as living St Matthew's Parish, Ipswich,
    mar 8th Nov 1865, St Matthew's Parish Church, Ipswich [GRO.UK]
    to Joseph Leonard Wells [born 27th June 1839] and had issue.


Must be brother:

  1. James Sandle Ruffles.
    A family bible existed which was a gift to "James Sandle Ruffles" from his mother, 8th Mar 1850.
    Not found in [UK census, 1861].
