John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (see here),
defeated French and Bavarians at Blenheim, Germany 1704,
this battle broke French power in Europe,
as reward for him Queen Anne built Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, N of Oxford,
had issue:

1. Henrietta Churchill, 2nd Duchess of Marlborough.

2. Lady Anne Churchill, mar Charles Spencer, 3rd Earl of Sunderland and had issue [the future Dukes of Marlborough].
