The Blennerhassett Challenge - Some ideas for things to do

Here are some of my ideas for things to do if you are having a go at The Blennerhassett Challenge.

It is possible that you need to do none of these, and you can think of some clever search that will solve this problem overnight. One of the reasons I am throwing this open to the world is to look for new ideas. How would you tackle this problem?

Things to do - Our Cashels

The proper way to do genealogical research is to start with the known and work backwards to the unknown. Here are things to do starting with our known Cashel family and working backwards.

Kickham and Armstrong and Lecoq

George Cashel's wife is related to Kickham and Armstrong and Lecoq.
This may or may not help in the solution of the link of Cashel to Blennerhassett.
It might be completely irrelevant to look at the family tree of George Cashel's wife.

Things to do - Other Cashels and Blennerhassetts

It is always dangerous to do genealogical research the other way round - starting with disconnected families and trying to connect them to your family.

However, in this case it may make sense to look at the main family of Blennerhassettt of Co.Kerry, since "A. Blennerhassett, J.P.", who recommended our George Cashel for the County Constabulary in 1828, is probably a relation, and is almost certainly one of these 3 Arthur Blennerhassetts in the main Blennerhassettt family.

There is also another Cashel / Cashell family that is provably related to the Blennerhassetts, through a marriage in the 1720s. These may or may not be related to our Cashels.
