Killeen Castle built by Hugh de Lacy, 1st Lord of Meath 1181,
inherited by the Cusack family,
passed by marriage to the Plunkett family 1403,
seat of Plunkett, Earl of Fingall (cr 1628),
sold out of the family c.1953.
It survives. See [Irish Country Houses]. In the grounds is a ruined medieval church containing Plunkett tombs.
