Christopher Fairchild



Christopher Fairchild's will leaves property to his wife "Kingborough".


  
Christopher Fairchild,
bapt 26 Feb 1750 (new style year), Stamford.
He was clerk to the collectors of Excise for Grantham district.
At his death 1805 it says he had held this position for 35 years (since 1770).
However his marriage notice 1792 and son's bapt 1793 and his will 1803 describe him as a "confectioner", of Stamford. Maybe the clerk was only a part-time position.
Certainly he lived in Stamford, not in Grantham.
Listed as "scrivener", of St.Michael's parish, Stamford, at mar 1776.

He mar 1stly, 5 Nov 1776, to Alice Sharp [bapt 15 Nov 1751].
They mar in St George's, Stamford. See entry from here.
Alice died.
At 2nd mar 1792 Christopher is widower, living St.John's parish, Stamford.
Marriage notice describes him as a "confectioner", of Stamford.

He mar 2ndly, 9 Apr 1792, Stamford, to Kingborough Dennis [born 24 July 1759].
She had a very unusual first name, that came from the Martin family.
He is described as "confectioner" at son's bapt 1793 at Stamford.
His will dated 6 Apr 1803. He is "confectioner", living St.George's parish, Stamford.

Christopher dies, 1805:
He died at Stamford, 1805, age 55 yrs.
He was bur 20 Oct 1805, at St.George's, Stamford. See entry from here.

Will pr 27 Feb 1806.

Kingborough dies by suicide, 1816:
She committed suicide on Sat 13 Jan 1816, age 56 yrs.
Stamford Coroners' Inquest says suicide. "Hanged".

Further admin of Christopher's estate, 29 Apr 1816, granted to son Dennis.
