Howard Kerr,
born 15 July 1832, Jersey, Channel Islands.
His father was an officer in the Royal Navy and moved around a lot.

Howard also joined the Royal Navy.
In 1841 census he is not with family but is listed at Royal Naval School, Camberwell, London.
He became an officer in the Royal Navy.
He became a Commander in 1869.

He mar 1869 to his 1st cousin Mary Kerr [born 17 Feb 1837].
In 1871 census they are listed with her parents at Marston Sicca, Gloucestershire.
He is listed in Navy Directory in [Thom's, 1874, p.575] and [Thom's, 1880, p.494]. Service: "C.G."
He became a Captain.
Emigrated to New Zealand about 1882.
Lived at Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.
Mary died 13 Oct 1904.
She was bur at Tauranga Anglican cemetery, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. See Findagrave. See satellite view and street view.
Howard died 7 Sept 1914, age 82 yrs, Tauranga, New Zealand.
He was bur at Tauranga Anglican cemetery. See Findagrave.
Howard and Mary had issue:


  1. Agnes Dorothy Kerr,
    born 1870, Marston Sicca, Gloucestershire (grandparents' house).

  2. Katherine Stainforth Kerr.

  3. Julia Kerr,
    Julia Frances Kerr, born 1873.
    She died 10 Mar 1895, age 22 yrs.
    She was bur at Tauranga Anglican cemetery.

  4. Anna Harriett Cecile Kerr, born 1876,
    mar Lionel Nethersole "Ben" Ralph,
    had issue:

    1. Mary Katherine Ralph, born 1910,
      mar Hector Hercules Robertson,
      had issue:

      1. Hugh Robertson.
        DNA match to John Gibbon.

  5. John Andrew Bathurst Kerr.
  6. James Kerr.




This picture has what looks like "H.K." on the back.
It may be Howard Kerr.

[House Book of Arthur Augustus Gibbon] refers to "Agnes, May and Anna Kerr" on 15 July 1882.
May is probably Mary here, Agnes may be her daughter or her mother, and Anna her daughter.
