Kealid on 1829 to 1842 map.

The following is probably our family.
Hugh is a rare first name.
[Griffiths Valuation, 1851] shows a "Golden" family at Kealid.
1901 census shows the people at Kealid as "Goolden" and "Goulding".
1911 census shows the people at Kealid as "Golding" and "Goulding".

Hugh Goldin,
mar Margaret Windle,
at son's bapt 1844 they are listed as of Kealid, Knockanure par, Co.Kerry (NE of Listowel, see map),
son baptised at Moyvane, between Listowel and Tarbert (see map),
had issue:

  1. Patrick Goldin,
    bapt 17 April 1844 [Moyvane RC par records].

Our family starts as follows.
The records show spelling "Goulding" and "Goolding" and "Goolden":

Hugh Goulding,
had issue:

  1. Patrick Goulding,
    listed as of Tarbert, NE Co.Kerry, at mar,
    mar 30 January 1875 to Ellen Hickie,
    they lived Tarbert,
    he died from typhoid,
    he must be Patrick Goulding, grocer, married, who died of "typhus fever" in the Workhouse at Glin, 1 Mar 1880, age 34 (born 1846), see entry in [GROI],
    Ellen went to live with her brother Michael Hickie, who was Master of the Workhouse in Listowel,
    but he would only let the girls stay with her, her son was sent to an orphanage,
    had issue:

    1. Lily Goulding,
      Margaret, Margaret Mary Goulding, born 11 December 1875,
      bapt 16 December 1875 [Tarbert RC par records].

    2. Josephine Goulding,
      Josie, Mary Ann Josephine Goulding, born 24 July 1878, must be twin,
      bapt 3 August 1878 [Tarbert RC par records],
      she might be Josephine Goulding, age 22, domestic servant, Tralee, in 1901 census.

      Lily and Josephine went to America, to Chicago.
      They were governesses for wealthy families in Chicago, including the Swifts and the banking family Mitchells.

    3. David Goulding, must be twin, must be born 24 July 1878,
      would be after grandfather,
      bapt 3 August 1878 [Tarbert RC par records],
      (todo) see birth of David Goulding, Glin, [GROI], 3rd qr 1878, vol 5 p 260.

    4. Hubert Goulding, born 2 November 1879,
      would be after grandfather,
      bapt 10 November 1879 [Tarbert RC par records],
      sent to a Christian Brothers orphanage when his father died, since could not stay with mother at Listowel workhouse,
      he might be Hugh Goulding, shop assistant, age 20, listed in William St, Listowel, in 1901 census,

      mar Mary Elizabeth Buckley [dau of Laurence Buckley, cooper, of Listowel, Co.Kerry],
      see her family listed in William St, Listowel, in 1901 census,
      see her family listed in William St, Listowel, in 1911 census,

      (todo) try marriage of Hugh Golding, Listowel, [GROI], 1st qr 1912, vol 5 p 325,
      they went to America, to Chicago,
      he died early 1960, age 80 yrs,
      death notice in Chicago Tribune, 16 Feb 1960,
      bur Mount Carmel Cemetery, Chicago (see map),
      had issue:

      1. David Goulding.
      2. Hugh Goulding.
      3. Patricia Goulding, mar William Joseph O'Connell and had issue:
        1. Kathleen O'Connell, mar Mukesh Sundaram.
      4. Laurence Goulding.
      5. Mary Therese Goulding.

    5. 3 more children, Goulding,
      according to [P102/208(118)].
