Originally from Scotland.
This branch became a prominent political family of Rhodesia.



Robert Alexander Fletcher,
born 1865, South Africa,
mar Annie Alice Macdonald,
moved to Bulawayo, Matabeland North, W Rhodesia, 1894, one of the first white settlers there,
his wife joined him 1895,
settled at Umvatcha farm, Bulawayo, c.1903,
he was Minister of Agriculture and Lands in Rhodesia (self-governing after 1922),
the Land Apportionment Act of 1930 restricted black access to land,
Commander of the Order of the British Empire 1939,
had issue:


Hugh Murray Fletcher,
born 1894, South Africa,
his mother took him as infant in "nightmarish journey" to join father in Bulawayo, Rhodesia 1895,
in WW1 served in the 1st Rhodesian Regiment in German South West Africa,
later joined the Royal Flying Corps in England, serving as a pilot in the Near East,
returned to Rhodesia in 1919,
mar 1922 to Bessie Cashel [descendant of Edward III],
had issue:

  2. Hugh Fletcher, mar Annette Esterhuyse and had issue:
    1. Anne Fletcher.
    2. Susan Fletcher.
