Bertie Cussen


Bertie Cussen,
Robert J. Cussen, born 1904, Co.Limerick.
He was educ Blackrock College and TCD.
He played on the TCD rugby team that won the Leinster Senior Cup in 1926.
He qualified as solicitor in Hilary term 1926.
He got LL.D. (doctorate in Law), TCD.
Solicitor in Newcastle West, Co.Limerick.

He mar 1929 to Kathleen McCartan [Kitsy, dau of Daniel McCartan, from Newcastle, Co.Down, think NOT McCarten].
[Thom's, 1929] and [Thom's, 1935] and [Thom's, 1945] lists him with offices at Newcastle West and at 12 Dame St, Dublin.
Registered his father's death 1940.
He was founder member and president of the Newcastle West Historical Society.
President of Thomond Archaeological and Historical Society 1976-81.
Noted book collector.
He compiled notes on family history.
He died in 1992, age 88 yrs.
