(This is long before Owen Hayes got involved with it.)

Dr. Maurice Hayes,
Maurice Richard Joseph Hayes, born 1878.
He mar Agnes Walsh.
He was a successful doctor.
Lived 35 Upper Fitzwilliam St, Dublin.
He died 2 Mar 1930, age 52 yrs. See death cert from here.
They had issue:

1. Owen Hayes,
   Owen Maurice Aloysius Hayes, born 19 June 1910, 35 Upper Fitzwilliam St, Dublin. See birth cert from here.
   He originally set out to study Medicine like his father.
   But his father died early, in 1930. He had to give up studies. He went out to work, ended up successful motor businessman.
   At mar he is "businessman", living 35 Upper Fitzwilliam St, Dublin.
   He mar 22 June 1938 to Betty O'Mara [Elizabeth, born 23 Aug 1910].
   They lived 24 Greenfield Rd, Mount Merrion, Co.Dublin.
   Listed in [Thom's, 1939, p.1813, p.1609] at 24 Greenfield Rd, Mt Merrion.

   He became owner of L.S.E. Motor Co Ltd, 35 North Frederick St, Dublin.
   This was a long-established business with that name at that location. Not listed there in [Thom's, 1914]. Listed there in [Thom's, 1919, p.1599] and for decades after. Unclear when Hayes got involved.
   He did new car sales, spare parts. Busy workshop.
   At one time L.S.E. had biggest petrol sales of any individual garage in Ireland, and one of biggest parts and accessories sales in Ireland.
   Strangely, they are not listed at 24 Greenfield Rd, Mt Merrion, in [Thom's, 1945, p.1361], but then they appear again there later.
   He is listed in [Thom's, 1951, p.1673] as living 24 Greenfield Rd, Mt Merrion.
   L.S.E. Motor Co Ltd, 35 North Frederick St, still listed in [Thom's, 1973, p.560].
   In early 1970s he decided to expand, moved to new site on Dorset St. But deal to sell old premises fell through. There was a slump in property market. He couldn't sell old site, yet had to continue paying off bank loans on new site. Business went bust.
   Gowan Motors took majority share of his business in mid-1970s. Owen still Chairman.
   L.S.E. Motor Co Ltd is listed at 109-113 Dorset St Upper in [Thom's, 1977, p.279]. 35 North Frederick St is "vacant".
   Business continued losing money. Gowan's bought out remaining interest.
   Owen retired as Chairman c.1980.
   Garage finally closed Summer 1983.

   Owen and Betty lived 2 Woodbine Rd, Blackrock, Co.Dublin.
   Betty died 1990s.
