of Ballinorig, Ratass par, E side of Tralee, Co.Kerry (see modern map),
mar Mary Mullins,
at Ballinorig as at 1862,
had issue:

Michael Tangney,
born 4 Jan 1862,
bapt 7 Jan 1862 [Tralee RC par records].
Farmer, of Ballinorig East.
He mar 14 Feb 1892 [Tralee RC par records] to Margaret Talbot [Maggie, born 16 July 1864, dau of James Talbot].
See her entry (login needed) in [Talbot tree].
See family listed in 1901 census at Ballinorig East.
See family listed in 1911 census at Ballinorig East.
Margaret died 2 May 1951, Ballinorig, age 86 yrs.
She was bur Rath Old Cemetery, Tralee, Co.Kerry.
See grave from kerryburials.com.
They had issue:

  1. James Tangney,
born 22 April 1896, Ballinorig East,
bapt 26 April 1896 [Tralee RC par records].
Jailed in 1928: "James Tangney (35), farmer's son, of Ballinorig, Tralee" was convicted of indecent assault at the Central Criminal Court in 1928.
He was convicted of the indecent assault of "a young girl" at Ballybeggan outside Tralee, on 13 Nov 1927.
He already had a long criminal record. The prosecution stated that "the accused man was a notorious ruffian and a menace to the district". He got 2 years in jail.
See article part 1 and part 2 in Irish Times, March 3, 1928.

He inherited the farm at Ballinorig but it failed.
He died 2 June 1965 [gravestone of mother] or 6 June 1965 [Talbot tree].
[Joan Tangney notes] thought he died Sydney, Australia, 1977, unmarried.

  2. John Tangney,
born 8 Jan 1898, Ballinorig East,
bapt 9 Jan 1898 [Tralee RC par records].
He mar 1921 to Catherine O'Callaghan.
    Emigrated to Australia.

  3. Mary Tangney,
Maryann Tangney, born 4 Jan 1900, Ballinorig.
Twin with sister Elizabeth. See birth cert from here.
She mar 25 Feb 1933, RC church, Tralee, to Jeremiah Carmody and had issue.
    See mar cert. From here.
Jeremiah Carmody was 2nd cousin of her brother John's wife Catherine O'Callaghan.
Problem with mar cert: Both [Talbot tree] and [Joan Tangney notes] say that Mary Tangney of this family married Jeremiah Carmody of Cloon Glebe. So this must be the 1933 marriage.
But the 1933 mar cert lists the wife as "Margaret" Tangney of Ballinorig, dau of Michael Tangney. This is unexplained.

  4. Margaret Tangney,
    born 12 July 1903, Ballinorig.
    See birth cert.
She died 13 June 1910, Ballinorig, age 6 yrs.
    See death cert.
