The possible Royal Descent of Dr. Alec Spain

In 2013, I discovered that my grand-uncle Alec Spain (who I met before he died in 1982) possibly had a Royal Descent.
Justin Spain did the work in 2012 to construct the line from Alec Spain back to Thomas Colclough.
Various sources then had Thomas Colclough as son of Adam Colclough of Boley, but this appears to be untrue.
It may be that he connects to the family some other way though.

          Elizabeth Somerset

 | |
          Adam Colclough
          Thomas Colclough

Thomas Colclough below (born c.1720) has been identified by various sources with Thomas Colclough above (born 1726), but this appears to be untrue: [John Colclough] says there is some evidence that Thomas Colclough is connected to the main family, but how is uncertain.
Work on this line may yet yield a connection to the main family and a Royal Descent.
