George William English,
George dies, 1883:
He died of
"phthisis",
Sept 1883,
at his house,
Main Street, Tipperary, age 33 yrs.

Elizabeth carried on the business.
She is listed
in 1901 census
on Main Street, Tipperary.
She is "merchant", widow.
she has one domestic servant and two shop assistants
living with her.
Elizabeth is listed at death 1902
as a "shopkeeper",
living Main Street, Tipperary.
Elizabeth is killed by a train, 1902:
She died on a railway line, death assumed to be 14 Apr 1902,
age 46 or 48 yrs.
See death cert.
From here.
On the morning of Mon 14 Apr 1902, Elizabeth's body was found on the railway line at
Puddingfield, Kilshane par, Co.Tipperary (E of Tipperary town).
She had been run over by a train sometime the previous night.
Her body was cut in two, and the two parts separated by a distance.
The inquest does not find out why she was on the railway line.
It suggests she may not have been in her right mind.
But ultimately it returns a verdict of accident not suicide.
See report of inquest
in Cork Examiner,
Wednesday, April 16, 1902.
George and Elizabeth had issue:
Item about Elizabeth's death
in Munster Express,
Saturday, April 19, 1902.
This says she was hit when walking along the line to visit friends.
But that claim is not found in the inquest,
which offers no reason why she has left her home in the town
and is found on the railway line.
