Joan de Geneville.
He
acquired by marriage
Ludlow Castle, Shropshire (on Welsh border).
Also
acquired by marriage
Trim Castle, Co.Meath.
Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland 1316-1320.
He was the lover of
Edward II's Queen Isabella.
He deposed and murdered Edward II in 1327.
He was the effective ruler of England until overthrown by Edward II's son
Edward III.
Edward III
executed him in 1330.
Joan died 1356.
They
had issue:
- Sir Edmund Mortimer,
had issue:
- Roger Mortimer, 2nd Earl of March,
had issue:

Edmund Mortimer, 3rd Earl of March.
- Margaret de Mortimer,
mar Thomas de Berkeley, 3rd Baron Berkeley
and had issue.
- Katherine de Mortimer,
mar Thomas Beauchamp, 3rd Earl of Warwick
and had issue.
