Harriet Pigott

Harriet Pigott,
or Harriett F. Pigott,
probably born 1868, New York.
At home with parents in 1880 census.
At home when Stephen O'Mara visited in 1888. She is working and earning a wage.

She mar 1stly, 1894, to Robert Mitchell [born New York].
She is listed at home with mother in 1900 census, husband not there. Her name is "Harriet Piggott". It says no children but this is not true. This must be because she and her husband separated.
She and Robert must have divorced. He was alive when she married again.
Harriet had issue by 1st husband:

  1. Harriet Mitchell,
    Harriet Catherine Mitchell, or Harriett,
born New York, 21 Dec 1894 [U.S., Social Security Death Index] or (probably not) 1895 [1915 census] or 1897 [1910 census].
Living with stepfather William F. Murphy in 1910 census.
Living with grandmother Catherine in 1915 census, occupation "dressmaker".

  2. Marie Mitchell,
    Marie Elleanor Mitchell, May, Mae,
born New York, 10 May 1897 [death cert, 1915 census] or (probably not) 1899 [1910 census].
Living with stepfather William F. Murphy in 1910 census.
Living with grandmother Catherine in 1915 census, occupation "office work".
She mar 1918 to Edward Babcock and had issue.

Harriet mar 2ndly, 1901, to William F. Murphy [born 1878, New Jersey].
See them listed in 1910 census at 217 Fulton St, Woodbridge, New Jersey (see map). He is "tinsmith". She is "merchant" in "grocery". See full size.
Her children Harriet and Marie are listed in 1910 census as "Murphy" but the column for birthplace of their father shows they are step-children (father born New York rather than New Jersey).
Her 1st husband Robert Mitchell died 18 Feb 1913.
Harriet had further issue by 2nd husband.

My notes in 1991 say there were two Pigott girls of Orange, New Jersey (some distance N of Woodbridge).
I have lost the source for this. But clearly our branch (the O'Mara branch in Ireland) remembered this.
