Morborne, Huntingdonshire

Morborne (or Morborn), Huntingdonshire (now in Cambridgeshire), SW of Peterborough (see map).
Seat of Forest or Forrest from before 1528 until 1620.

Miles Forest settled here by 1528.
He was granted the manor and lordship of Morborne in 1540.
Sir Anthony Forrest mortgaged the manor of Morborne in 1620 to Sir Robert Beville of Chesterton.
Forrest never regained the manor.
Beville sold it in 1660.

The Manor Farm house S of the church is the (site of the) Forrest seat.
Above the doorway of the current house are the arms of Forrest of Morborne with the initials "A.F." for Sir Anthony Forrest, but the "A" is broken and resembles a "P".
The current house is late 17th century. Below the doorway is a stone with date 1692.
There are remains of a moat, which probably surrounded the earlier manor house.
