presumably
Santa Cruz de La Palma
in the Canary Islands.
He mar
Margaret Gibbon [bapt 13 Dec 1761].
Their son was baptised in Aberdeen 1784.
Their dau was born in the West Indies.
They had issue:
- Hugh Knox,
bapt 26 Dec 1784 [St.Nicholas', Aberdeen].
- Jane Knox,
Jane Gibbon Knox, Jenny,
born on St.Croix, West Indies.
She
mar 8 Apr 1820 [St.Nicholas', Aberdeen]
to
Dr. Colin Allan [from an Aberdeen family].
Ann Gibbon's diary, 30 Apr 1820,
says:
"Doctor and Mrs. Allan are come home from their marriage jaunt".
He was an
Army surgeon, in the West Indies.
He was surgeon to the Hill Force of the
7th West Indian Regiment.
Children baptised in Aberdeen 1821 to 1824.
They went to Canada.
In 1836 he was the Principal Medical Officer at the
Halifax Station, Nova
Scotia.
He died in 1850 at Fredericton, New Brunswick, while Jane was at Halifax.
Poem of Oct 1852
says:
"When looking at Dear Jenny Knox; In Widows cap, oer gray white locks".
Some of their children went to America.
