William Lynne


William Lynne,
born 1597.
His aunt Elizabeth Forrest married in 1604 to Sir Arthur Denny of Tralee, Co.Kerry.
His father died 1606.

Goes to Ireland for a time:
As a young man, William obtained (presumably through his uncle Sir Arthur Denny) estates in Co.Kerry.
[Gun, 1924] says William purchased lands near Tralee in 1619.
His uncle Sir Arthur Denny died in 1619. His aunt re-married and stayed in Tralee.
William lived in Co.Kerry for a time.
[Gun, 1924] says in 1622 he is described as of "Carrignafely". This is Carrignafeela Castle, near Tralee, which was Sir Arthur Denny's house, and probably where William's aunt was now living.

He returned to England. [Visitation of Northamptonshire] and [Green, 1877] both describe him as "of London".
He mar 24 May 1631 to Elizabeth Whetenhall [born 1606] and had issue.
They mar at St Bartholomew-the-Great, London. Marriage licence 23 May 1631.
Still holds estates in Co.Kerry at his death.
He died at Southwick c.1668.
Admin granted to his widow 4 Mar 1670 (new style year).
William and Elizabeth had issue:


  1. George Lynne.
    He went to Ireland.

  2. Henry Lynne.
    Executor for his father's estates in Co.Kerry in 1670.
