    High Sheriff of Limerick.
    He is called "Mike Spain" in an undated letter by Stephen O'Mara.

  2. William Spain,
    born 1865 in Moanfin.
    Famous hurler and Gaelic footballer.
    He was the first player to win the All Ireland in both football and hurling.
