1. Winifred Herbert,
   mar 2ndly to Herbert Gardner, 1st Baron Burghclere
   and had issue:
   1. Evelyn Gardner,
      mar 1stly to Evelyn Waugh.

   
   

2. George Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon, born 1866.
   He is "Lord Carnarvon", the Egyptologist, patron of Howard Carter.
   He discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922 with Howard Carter.
   He died 1923.

4th Earl mar 2ndly, 1878, to Elizabeth Howard.
Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland 1885-1886.
4th Earl had issue by 2nd wife:

1. Aubrey Herbert, MP, born 1880,
   the Balkan adventurer.
   He was the model for the hero of John Buchan's novel Greenmantle.
   He was offered the throne of Albania after WWI. He declined.
   He mar his distant Herbert cousin Mary Gertrude Vesey [descendant of Edward III] and had issue:
   1. Laura Herbert,
      mar Evelyn Waugh and had issue.

A room on earth that was undisturbed for 3,200 years.
The antechamber of the tomb of Tutankhamun. Discovered by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon in 1922.
