Frederick Kerr

Frederick Kerr,
born 6 Oct 1804, Northampton.
See entry in tree by Lindy Emery.
He served in 62nd Regiment.

He mar about 1836 to Mary Ann Winter [born 1821, Canada].
Her birthplace looks like Montreal in 1861 census. He must have met her when serving in Canada in army.
She was very young. In 1841 census she is age 20 and their son is age 5. Must have married about age 15.

At dau's bapt 1838 they are listed as of 14 Upper Montagu St, London, and of St.Martin's, Shropshire. He is just listed as an "Esq".
In 1841 census Mary Ann is listed with children in Llangwm parish, Denbighshire (now Conwy), Wales. This is the parish of Frederick's father's house Maesmor. She is at what looks like "Glancurw". This might be Glan-y-Ceirw or Glan Ceirw, N of Llangwm village. See old map (Surveyed: 1875 to 1886, Published: 1887).
In 1841 census Frederick is not with Mary Ann, but is listed some distance to the E, with his brother's family in Llangollen. Both his age and his brother's age are inaccurate.

In 1851 census Frederick and Mary Ann are listed together in Oswestry, Shropshire. He is "Gent", born Northampton. He is listed as age 35 which would be totally inaccurate.
In 1861 census they are listed in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. He is born Northampton. He is listed as age 42 which would be totally inaccurate.
He died 23 Feb 1876, age 71 yrs.
(todo) Try death of Frederick Kerr, King's Norton (Midlands), [GRO.UK] 1st qr 1876, age 68, vol 6c p 306.
Frederick and Mary Ann had issue:

  1. Frederick Kerr,
born 1836 [1841 census], mother must be age 15.

  2. Blanche Plantagenet Kerr,
bapt 1 Apr 1838, St Mary's, Bryanston Square, London. See entry from here. And copy from here.
(Note that the Kerr family descends from Henry I, though not from Plantagenet.)

  3. Marmaduke Errington Kerr,
born late 1839, Shrewsbury district, Shropshire.
See entry in tree by Richard Brittain.
    Ancestor of:

    1. Lindy Emery.
      Researching family tree.

  4. Washington Manners Kerr.

  5. Isabella Catherine Kerr,
bapt 14 Sept 1844, Dudleston, Shropshire. See transcript.

  6. Constance Elizabeth Kerr.

  7. Charlotte Kerr.
Incorrectly written as "son" in 1851 census, but is clearly "Charlotte" not Charles, and also age is written in female column.

  8. Charles St.Clair Kerr.
