28 Eden Quay, Dublin

Michael Judge ran a pub at 28 Eden Quay, Dublin, in the 1870s and early 1880s.
I have a page on it mainly because of its impressive longevity as a pub and other venue.

A sign on the front of the building says "EST. 1769".
Though this may be dubious. Eden Quay was not constructed until 1796. And the building had different owners and uses over the years.

The E part of Eden Quay (where 28 Eden Quay is) does not yet exist on 1797 map. The W part of Eden Quay exists but does not yet have the name "Eden Quay".
"Eden Quay" does not exist in the list of quays and streets in [Dublin Almanac, 1815, p.7]. Either this part (the E part) of the quay did not yet exist, or it did not yet have the name "Eden Quay", so it is hard to track the building.
"Eden Quay" does exist in [Dublin Almanac, 1817, p.7].
Once built, the street numbering seems never to have changed. Starting with no.1 at the Sackville Street end, and increasing towards the Custom House end.

William Cassin, vintner, is at "Eden Quay" in [Dublin Almanac, 1819, p.55]. Based on the following, this would be 28 Eden Quay.
William Cassin, vintner, is at "Eden Quay" in [Dublin Almanac, 1820, p.56].
William and James Cassin, grocers, are at 28 Eden Quay in [Dublin Almanac, 1827, p.53].

Modern era

1972 and 1973 Dublin bombings:
A car bomb went off outside the pub on 1 December 1972.
Apparently done by the UVF. Customers in the pub were injured.

28 Eden Quay has had many names in the modern era.
Around 2000, it was called "Charlie P's".
This was Charlie Patton, who also owned Jack Humphrys' pub.
It was sister pub of "Charlie P's" Irish pub, Vienna, Austria.

It was then "The Liffey" pub.
Then a pub and venue called "The Pint".
Re-named to "The Wiley Fox".
"The Sound House" music venue is on the 1st floor.
