Robert Cashell

Robert Cashell,
or Cashel.
Son of George Cashell and Ellen Alton.
He was a subaltern officer of 6th Garrison Battalion.

He is probably the same as:

Capt. Robert Cashell,
of Co.Kerry.
At mar he is described as Lieutenant "R. Cashell" of the 31st Regiment.
Note that a James Cashell (of unknown origin) was of the 31st Foot in 1807-1811.
Note that the 2nd Battalion of the 31st Foot was in Ireland 1807-1808.
He mar 1812 to Jane Joice Gun [descendant of Edward III].
They mar at Ardfert, Co.Kerry. See Limerick Gazette, 4 Dec 1812.
Robert is not listed in [Army List, Nov 1812] (in either 6th Garrison Battalion or 31st Foot).
He became Captain post-1812.
Robert died 1818-1820.
Jane is party to [Deed, 1820]. Described as widow, of Plover Hill, Co.Kerry.
Jane is party to [Deed, July 1823]. Described as late of Plover Hill, Co.Kerry, and now of Saint-Omer, France.
Jane mar 2ndly, post-1823, to William Hikeman.

Capt. Robert and Jane had issue:

1. Jane Cashell,
   or Janet, or Cashel, only dau.
   She mar 1840 to Albert William Browne, M.D. [son of the late (as at 1840) William Browne].
   Marriage licence 1840, Diocese of Dublin.
   See them listed in Schedule of charges on the Denny estate, 1847.

   
   

2. George Gunn Cashell,
   bapt 27 December 1818 [St.Mary's C of I, Dublin].
   Must have died young since [Deed, July 1823] says Robert left only one child.
