Photo 2024. See larger and full size.

Patrick Collins.
He was apparently bapt 3 May 1812.
Farmer and market gardener, of Crumlin, Co.Dublin.
He mar 1stly, pre-1832, to Mary ----.
This may be the marriage of Pat Collins and Mary Doyle on 5 July 1831, Rathfarnham RC church. Patrick would apparently be age 19. Mar wit by John Smith and Honora Byrne.

Mary apparently died 1835-1836, leaving him with small children.
Patrick had issue by 1st wife:

  1. Thomas Collins,
bapt 17 Apr 1832, Rathfarnham RC church, sp Hugh Smyth and Rose Collins.
    See bapt entry from here.
    His father died 1880.
    He registered his half-brother Christopher's death 1884.
His residence in 1884 is given as "Cross-roads, Crumlin" (this would match where we think the Collins house was).
Listed as "farmer" in death cert and burial entry.
Death cert says he is a widower. Though burial entry thought he was unmarried.
He died at "Crumlin Cross Roads", 27 Oct 1889, age 57 yrs.
    See death cert from here.
He was bur 29 Oct 1889 in Glasnevin Cemetery with father. See burial entry. Gives address as "Crumlin".

  2. Andrew Collins,
bapt 4 Feb 1834, Rathfarnham RC church, sp Mick Jordan and Rose Collins.
Incorrectly indexed as 1833. See bapt entry from here.
He is farmer, living Crumlin at mar 1868.
He mar 5 Aug 1868 to Mary Smyth.
Mar cert lists her as spinster, dau of John Donagh, farmer. Surname is unexplained. Maybe she is his step-dau. She is living Crumlin at mar.
They mar at Rathfarnham RC church. See mar cert from here. Father is Patrick Collins, farmer.
Mar wit by James Toole and Mary Collins (probably his sister, not yet married).

He would be "Andrew Collins", The Glens, Crumlin, who was informant for the burial of his step-mother Mary Walsh in 1877.

  3. Maurice Collins,
bapt 14 Aug 1835, Rathfarnham RC church, sp Maurice Smyth and Eliza Smyth.
    See bapt entry from here.
We think this is probably our family because of Smith.

Other children of a Patrick Collins

Our Patrick Collins had two wives called Mary.
Rathfarnham was a huge parish and we can find many entries for children of a Patrick Collins and an unidentified Mary (no surname).
Identifying which ones are our Patrick is difficult.
For some, there is evidence/proof in favour of this being our family. We include these above and explain the reasoning.
For others, there is no good evidence in favour, or there is evidence/proof against. We list these here.

There is also one that was incorrectly indexed as child of Patrick and Mary Collins:
