George Lynne


George Lynne,
of Southwick Hall, Northamptonshire,
born c.1526.

[Lynne papers] number him as "George Lynne I". (The first of seven Georges.)
He mar 1stly to Amy Montagu [or Anne].
It seems they married as children in an arranged marriage. See [Case of 1529-1532].
His father died 1543.
He was then living Brigstock, Northamptonshire.
He inherited Southwick Hall.
Amy seems to be alive as at Herald's visitation of 1564.
She died before 1580.

He mar 2ndly, pre-1580, to Mary ----.
He re-built the main part of Southwick Hall.
Southwick Hall has stones with dates "1571" and "GL 1580 ML" (for George Lynne and Mary his 2nd wife). See [RCHME, 1984].
MP for Stamford 1584.
He attended the funeral of Mary Queen of Scots at Peterborough cathedral on 1 August 1587.

His will dated 21 Feb 1592 [new style year, at the time regarded as the end of 1591].
He was bur Southwick, 30 Mar 1593.
Will pr in Prerogative Court of Canterbury, 10 May 1593.
He had issue by 1st wife:

    of Southwick Hall.

Southwick Hall has stones with dates "1571" and "1580".
