Capt. Jenkin Conway in State Papers

Capt. Jenkin Conway appears in vols. 2 to 5 of the published Calendar of State Papers, Ireland.
References cover 1583 to 1596.
Letters from him, and mentions of him.
No mention in the other vols (vol.1 and vols. 6 to 11).

One interesting issue is that the multiple signatures of Capt. Jenkin Conway on letters show not only different spelling but also different handwriting. People definitely used varying spelling at this time (see Shakespeare) but different handwriting does seem strange. Were some letters signed on Conway's behalf?

Letter of 8 Mar 1583, from Sir Henry Wallop, Dublin, to Sir Francis Walsingham.
Refers to Conway as "Walsyngham's man".
Looks like this is when Conway came to Ireland.

Letter of 5 Apr 1583, from Thomas Butler, 10th Earl of Ormond, Clonmel, to Sir Francis Walsingham.
Conway has joined Ormond.

Letter of 21 Oct 1584, from Jenkin Conway, Dublin, to Sir Francis Walsingham.
Writes about proposed grant to him of Killorglin.

Letter of 10 July 1585, from Jenkin Conway, "Dinglecush" (Dingle, Co.Kerry), to Sir Francis Walsingham.
Lord Deputy Sir John Perrot has granted Conway "custodiam" of Killorglin.

Order against Jenkin Conway of 8 Sept 1585.

Letter of 10 Oct 1587 from Jenkin Conway in Killorglin Castle to Sir Francis Walsingham.
He has talked with Sir William Herbert and Sir Edward Fitton and Edward Denny about the unfolding Munster Plantation.
Conway is in possession of Killorglin Castle.
Castle Drom is a different castle to Killorglin Castle. Moriarty was allowed continue in possession of Castle Drom [Dodd, 1945, p.165].

Letter of 7 Jan 1589 (new style year) from Jenkin Conway to Sir Edward Denny.
"Dennyvale" is apparently the main Denny estate in Co.Kerry, centred on Tralee.

Jenkin Conway named as a Captain in a document of 4 Feb 1590 (new style year).

Documents about troops to be sent to Ireland. Conway is one of the Captains appointed to bring the troops to Ireland.
Signed by the Privy Council at Cecil House, London, 5 Feb 1590 (new style year).

Letter to the Lord Deputy in Ireland, about preparations for the defence of Ireland.

Captain Conway appears in a survey of settlers in Munster. Report dated 21 Oct 1592.

Letter of 1 Aug 1595 from Sir Richard Bingham to William Cecil, Baron Burghley.
Bingham is fighting a campaign against Hugh Roe O'Donnell. This was part of the Nine Years War.
Bingham says he has a company under Capt. Conway in his forces.
This is Capt. Jenkin Conway. See the following.

Capt. William Mostyn and Capt. Jenkin Conway write to the Privy Council, 12 Apr 1596.
They have been fighting in Bingham's campaign. They call for the execution of someone called Cotton.
