Sir Arthur Denny



Sir Arthur Denny,
of Tralee Castle,
born 21 Sept 1629.
He succ 1646.
Cromwellian conquest of Ireland was 1649-1653.
He mar 9 Sept 1651 to Ellen Barry [descendant of Edward III].
He restored Tralee Castle 1653. They moved back in 1653.
He died Ballynaulart, Co.Kerry, 1 Apr 1673 [new style year, at the time regarded as the end of 1672], age 43 yrs.
He and his wife are both buried in the Denny vault, Tralee church. See [Denny, 1908].
Sir Arthur and Ellen had issue:


  1. Col. Edward Denny,
    of Tralee Castle, born 10 Feb 1652,
    mar Mary Maynard [sister of Catharine Maynard, descendant of Edward I],
    Tralee Castle and Tralee town were again destroyed in Aug and Sept 1691 by forces of James on approach of William's forces,
    he restored Tralee Castle after 1691, the Irish government paid to re-build it,
    he lived Tralee Castle,
    died 1709 (or 1712),
    he and his wife are both buried in the Denny vault, St.John's church, Tralee [Denny, 1908],
    had issue:

    1. Col. Edward Denny, born 1676.

    2. Jane Denny, mar 1713 to Col. John Blennerhassett, of Ballyseedy and had issue.


  2. Ellen Denny,
    mar William Carrique and had issue.
