John O'Donoghue

John O'Donoghue,
born 1810.
He was educ TCD. Entered 4 June 1828. Scholar 1831. BA Spring 1833.
In Jan 1833 he wrote a testimonial for Michael Joseph Rahilly. They may be related.
Qualified as a barrister. B.L.
But spent his life as a journalist, author and poet.
Wrote for the leading newspaper in Ireland, the Freeman's Journal 1838 to 1871, and was Editor for a period. A leading voice of Catholic nationalism.
Friend of Daniel O'Connell.
Author of a history of the O'Briens [O'Donoghue, 1860].
Grave describes him as of Carrigeen House, E of Killarney. He was born there, and his brother Daniel lived there.
He lived in Dublin. He did not marry. He died very wealthy.

He died in Dublin, Wed 22 Mar 1893, age 83 yrs. NOT 28 Mar.
He was bur Killaha cemetery, SE of Killarney.
