John Blennerhassett of Tralee
DNA testing and this family
- How we found this family:
- While pursuing the possible link of my family to Blennerhassett,
we searched the DNA results of my family
for the name "Blennerhassett"
and found the family below.
- The risk of such a search is that the family is DNA related through some other line,
not through the surname you searched for.
- I have included this branch in a
DNA project
to test the DNA of Blennerhassett descendants.
- Here are the
DNA test results:
- DNA suggests this family is related to my family (Cashel).
The spread of matches suggests the match is through the Blennerhassett line.
- DNA suggests this family is related to the descendants of
Edward Blennerhassett of Rossbeigh.
- DNA weakly suggests this family may descend from
Robert Blennerhassett and Frances Yielding.
Conclusion
- DNA suggests this family is related both to Cashel and to the
Edward Blennerhassett of Rossbeigh family.
- But other DNA tests say Cashel is not closely related to the
Edward Blennerhassett of Rossbeigh family.
- So ultimately, we still have no real theory of how this family fits in.
- There is a
John Blennerhassett, baptised 1825
in the Edward Blennerhassett of Rossbeigh branch.
His family did catastrophically fall down the social ladder after their father died in 1833.
Could this be John below?
-
To nail down the DNA link, and make sure it is not through some other ancestor of Savage,
we need to collect DNA of other
descendants and relations
of John Blennerhassett below.
