Noonan
Extract from
[Deed of 1843].
Shows Eugene Noonan's wife is Catherine Blennerhassett
and they
are parents of Agnes Noonan (later O'Callaghan).
Eugene Noonan,
or Nunan.
He mar, must be c.1780, to
Catherine Blennerhassett [or Hasset, must be born c.1760].
The reason we have these marriage and birth estimates is to allow room for the mother of Agnes (married 1803)
to still be alive in 1847.
Catherine is from an unknown Blennerhassett branch that is Catholic,
or at least she married a Catholic.
(Their dau is baptised Catholic.)
Looks like there are more from her family since a "Mary Hasset" sp the bapt of her dau in 1791.
See them listed under disconnected Hassett / Blennerhassett families on page
S 36
of
Bill Jehan's tree.
Lease at Ballyseedy, 1788:
Eugene got a lease of
property at Clashedmond,
on the Blennerhassett estate of Elmgrove (Ballyseedy).
He is party to
Deed of 8 Dec 1788
with
William Blennerhassett of Elmgrove (Ballyseedy).
Living Tralee parish at dau's bapt 1791.
Lease near Cork, 1793:
It seems he moved from Kerry to Cork.
He is "Eugene Nunane", of the city of Cork,
who is party to
[Deed of 31 Oct 1793]
where he leases property at
Monees
(old name for Moneygurney),
Carrigaline par, SE side of Cork city
(between Cork and Carrigaline).
We know this is him because the lease is for his life and the lives of his wife Catherine and his daughter Agnes.
Also later his son-in-law
Stephen Cashel
inherits this property at Monees.
He is Eugene Noonan
mentioned in
[Deed of 11 Mar 1795].
The deed is about someone else's property at Monees.
It notes that the property is
bounded to the N by the part of Monees held by Eugene Noonan.
Eugene dies, 1795-1804:
He clearly died pre-1804.
Catherine is party (without him) to
1804 case
at Exchequer Court of Equity.
He definitely died pre-1816.
Catherine is party to
Deed of Oct 1816.
She is widow.
This refers to
property at Clashedmond
formerly held by the late Eugene Noonan
from William Blennerhassett of Elmgrove (Ballyseedy).
She is party to 1819 case
at Exchequer Court of Equity.
Catherine dies, 1847:
She died Apr 1847,
according to
1849 legal case.
She must have been a huge age, about 90 yrs.
Eugene and Catherine had issue:
-
Agnes Noonan,
or Nunan or Noonen,
of Tralee,
must be born c.1780.
Her insurance policy in 1847 says she is age 55 (born 1792), but that is far too young.
She was older.
Described in
[Deed of 31 Oct 1793]
as eldest dau.
She mar 1803 to Stephen Cashel
[linen draper] and had issue.
Apparently Limerick Chronicle says they
married at Tralee, "p.o." (probably "printed on") Sat 26 Feb 1803.
Stephen fl 1816.
He apparently died 1816-1819, since he is not party to the 1819 case.
Agnes is party (without Stephen) to 1819 case
at Exchequer Court of Equity.
She mar 2ndly, post-1819, to Daniel Callaghan [or O'Callaghan].
- Letitia Noonan.
She is party to
1804 case
at Exchequer Court of Equity.
Shows Catherine Noonan is her mother.
- Catherine Noonan,
bapt 17 April 1791,
Tralee RC church,
sp
William Noonan and Mary Hasset.
There is a
"Catherine Lawlor" who sponsored the baptisms of her sister's children.
However this cannot be her with a married name since she would be too young to be married.
The baptisms are
in 1805 and 1808.
Baptism of Catherine Noonan, 17 April 1791.

- The memorial seems to have multiple errors in the writing.
It switches with no introduction to talking about "the said Catherine Chute".
This seems to be a mistake since later it talks about "the said Catherine Nunan".
- It talks about property held by the late Eugene Nunan.
It then references property demised to "Eugene Sullivan".
This must be a mistake
for Eugene Nunan.
- Witnessed by James Connor of Tralee
(could be this James).
- Deed

Daniel O'Callaghan of Ballyseedy and Agnes Noonan his wife,
