He was friend and co-counsel of

This is probably how Daniel met Elizabeth's sister
Mary,
who he began courting in 1800.
(Though they were distant cousins, so may have known each other earlier.)
James and Elizabeth lived in Day Place, Tralee.
Note on p.50 of
[Correspondence of Daniel O'Connell, vol.6]
says the O'Connor family home as at 1837 (formerly the home of James O'Connor) was on Castle St, Tralee,
"which later became the Bank of Ireland".

The impressive Bank of Ireland building on Castle St, Tralee.
The Kennelly Archive
shows this was the Bank of Ireland building as at 1968.
Therefore this is the building referred to in
[Correspondence of Daniel O'Connell]
as the James O'Connor house.
However this conflicts with the
NIAH entry
which says this building was built in 1837.
It also says the impressive features are newer:
"Pavilions and first floor projecting bay added c.1925."
