O'Connor

Extract from O'Connell genealogy by Rev. Charles James O'Connor, 1852.
He says his father James O'Connor is a descendant of O'Connor Kerry.
See full page.

Charles O'Connor,
or Charles Connor,
of Cloontarriff, Co.Kerry.
This must be Cloontarriv, Nohaval par (between Tralee and Castleisland).
He mar Mary O'Daly.
He died c.1763.
They had issue:

James O'Connor,
or James Connor.
See wikitree.
He was an attorney.
He mar 1792 to Elizabeth O'Connell [Betsy, bapt 12 Aug 1777].
He was friend and co-counsel of Daniel O'Connell. This is probably how Daniel met Elizabeth's sister Mary, who he began courting in 1800. (Though they were distant cousins, so may have known each other earlier.)
James and Elizabeth lived in Day Place, Tralee.
Note on p.50 of [Correspondence of Daniel O'Connell, vol.6] says the O'Connor family home as at 1837 (formerly the home of James O'Connor) was on Castle St, Tralee, "which later became the Bank of Ireland".
She died 1815.
He died 1819. Children orphaned.
They had among other issue:

  1. Ellen O'Connor,
    born 1793.

  2. James Connor,
bapt 1 December 1794, Tralee RC church, sp Edward Dunn and Mary Tuohy.
    He died young.

  3. Ricarda O'Connor,
    or Rickarda, born 1796.
    She mar John Primrose.

  4. Elizabeth O'Connor,
    Bess, bapt 1 Dec 1798.
    See wikitree.
She mar 1817 to Capt. Richard Leyne and had issue.

  5. Thomas O'Connor,
    Tom, Thomas Maurice O'Connor,
    or Thomas Morris O'Connor,
bapt 1 July 1800, Tralee RC church, sp John Sheehy and Susan Connor.

  6. Rev. Charles James O'Connor,
    born 1801.
He wrote out an O'Connell genealogy, 1852.
    He died 1861.

The impressive Bank of Ireland building on Castle St, Tralee.
The Kennelly Archive shows this was the Bank of Ireland building as at 1968.
Therefore this is the building referred to in [Correspondence of Daniel O'Connell] as the James O'Connor house.
However this conflicts with the NIAH entry which says this building was built in 1837. It also says the impressive features are newer: "Pavilions and first floor projecting bay added c.1925."
