bapt 14 Aug 1747.
Merchant in Aberdeen.
Capt. Charles Gibbon.
He mar 1stly, 19 Aug 1775, to Margaret Nicol [or Nichol, "Nicol" on grave, or "Paggie Nicole", born 1748].
They mar at Clackmannan.
Margaret died 17 Nov 1779, age 31 yrs [grave].
She was bur St.Fittick's, Nigg Bay, Aberdeen.
He had issue by 1st wife:


  1. James Gibbon, born 1776.
    Went to India.
    He was an indigo planter in the Presidency of Bengal.
    He mar in India and had many issue.
    He died at Patna, India, Dec 1851, age 75 yrs.

  2. Mary Gibbon, born 1778,
    died 25 Dec 1783, age 5 yrs [grave, Nigg Bay].


Charles mar 2ndly, 11 Nov 1792, to Rachel Susan Farquhar [born 7 Aug 1768].
They mar at St.Nicholas', Aberdeen. He was age 45. She was 24.
Charles died at Aberdeen, 17 Sept 1800, age 53 yrs.
He was bur 21 Sept 1800, St.Fittick's, Nigg Bay. See findagrave.
Rachel Susan lived at the Head of Denburn Walk, Aberdeen.
She died at her house, 18 Feb 1812, age 43 yrs.
She was bur 23 Feb 1812, at Nigg Bay.
Charles had issue by 2nd wife:


  1. Alexander Gibbon,
    of Johnston Lodge, Laurencekirk,
    born Aberdeen, 14 Sept 1793,
    bapt 22 Sept 1793 [St.Paul's, Aberdeen].

The reference to "Mr. Gibbon's father" being a magistrate of Aberdeen is confusing. Who is he referring to?
