Jack Hourigan,
John.
He mar pre-1816 to Mary O'Brien.
[Hourigan Tree] says she was from "Cullina" (probably Cullenagh, Doon par, a bit E of Murroe).
[Hourigan Tree] below her name has "Lough Gur" (E Co.Limerick). This is unexplained.
He inherited Annagh, Abington par, Co.Limerick.
"John Hourigan" sp bapt of his nephew Patrick Hourigan, Jan 1820.
"John Hourigan" sp the bapt of his nephew Mickey Tim Ryan, Oct 1820.
She may be "Mary Hourigan" who sp the bapt of her niece Judy Ryan 1822.
"John Hourigan" sp bapt of his nephew John Hourigan 1825.
There are two entries for John Hourigan at Annagh in [Tithe Survey, 1826]. Must be Jack and his father. The properties are 40 acres (probably the father) and 27 acres (probably the son).
"John Hourigan" wit the mar of Judy Hourigan 1827.
[Hourigan Tree] says that at the age of 70, "Jack Hourigan planted the orchard across the road" (in Annagh).
The orchard appears on the 1829 to 1842 map.
In [Griffiths Valuation, 1851] there are two Hourigan properties at Annagh, 69 acres for the aged Jack Hourigan and 48 acres for his son John Hourigan junior.
Jack and Mary had issue:


  1. Patrick Hourigan,
    bapt 10 Mar 1816 [Murroe and Boher RC par records], sp David Bourke and Judy Hourigan.
    He mar 25 Feb 1838 to Jane Bradshaw and had issue.
    Children baptised in Murroe 1838 to 1848.
    They lived in the "Boreen" house at Annagh.
    John Hourigan says: "As far as we know, Patrick Hourigan, Jane Bradshaw and their young family lived in the Old Annagh House down the Boreen before they immigrated to the USA just after the famine."
    They emigrated to USA in 1853.
    Patrick died in 1896 in Philadelphia, age 80 yrs.


  2. John Hourigan,
    bapt 7 May 1819 [Pallasgreen and Templebredon RC par records], sp Timothy O'Brien and Mary Harty.

    [Hourigan Tree] thought he was bapt 7 May 1829, but there is no such entry in Pallasgreen or in Murroe. Must be a mis-reading.
    He lived in the "Orchards" house at Annagh.


  3. Joseph Hourigan,
    bapt 13 Oct 1820 [Murroe and Boher RC par records], sp Patrick Hogan and Ellen Duhy.

  4. Honora Hourigan,
    bapt 4 Nov 1821 [Murroe and Boher RC par records], sp James Hourigan and Judy Hourigan.

    [Hourigan Tree] says she emigrated to America in 1851, and is the same person as:

    Joanna Hourigan.
    She mar 8 Sept 1853, Ohio, to Michael Dwyer [or O'Dwyer].
    They mar at Xenia, Greene county, Ohio. See mar entry from Ohio, U.S., County Marriage Records.
    They lived London, Madison County, Ohio.
    Michael died 1867.
    Joanna died 1 Aug 1880.
    She was buried at Saint Patricks Cemetery, London, Ohio. See findagrave.
    Joanna and Michael had issue.


  5. James Hourigan,
    bapt 22 Apr 1823 [Murroe and Boher RC par records], sp Timothy O'Brien and Honora Ryan.
    He lived in the "Boreen" house at Annagh.


  6. Richard Hourigan,
    bapt 20 Apr 1828 [Murroe and Boher RC par records], sp Michael Hourigan and Mary Bourke.
    He emigrated to USA in 1852.
    He mar 1859 to Katie ---- and had issue.
    Lived in Missouri.
    Later lived in Kentucky.
    Moved to Texas in 1876-1879.
    He died in Martin County, Texas, 3 Jan 1915, age 86 yrs.

The aged Jack Hourigan and his son John Hourigan junior listed at Annagh in Abington par, p.3, in [Griffiths Valuation, 1851].
John Hourigan (the father) holds 69 acres (largest plot in the townland) and a large house, and leases out some small plots.
