Lakeville, near Killarney, Co.Kerry

Lakeville, near Killarney, Co.Kerry.
Lakeville is (see proof below) the O'Connell house later called Lakeview, in Maulagh townland, Aghadoe par, Co.Kerry.
The house is on the shore of Lough Leane (Lower Lake), some distance W of Killarney. Some distance E of the Blennerhassett house Churchtown.

Lakeville in the 1790s to 1820s had a lot of different residents.
It may be that before O'Connell settled here, it was rented out to people who wanted to live by the beautiful lake for a temporary period.

Before O'Connell

The house is linked to Robert Arthur Blennerhassett around 1798-1804.
"Richard Blennerhassett of Lakeville" (unidentified person) is listed in marriage settlement of Robert Arthur Blennerhassett in [Deed, 17 May 1798].

Lakeville is listed in [Leet's Directory, 1814, p.259] as residence of Francis Russell. There is no "Lakeview" listed.
The Cashel family are found at Lakeville in 1816.

Lucy Bland, or her father N. Bland, is described as of Lakeville, or maybe formerly of Lakeville, in Freemans Journal, July 2, 1821.
Dorcas Twiss, widow of Arthur Blennerhassett of Ballyseedy (who died 1815), died at Lakeville, Killarney, in 1822.

O'Connell

Lakeville became the home of James O'Connell (later Sir James O'Connell, 1st Baronet).
[Houses of Kerry] says he lived there "by 1824".
James O'Connell is listed as of "Lakeville" in Freemans Journal, 24 Feb 1825.

So clearly the same house later called "Lakeview".

He built a new Lakeview House in 1870.
