Before 1850 Various properties In Griffith's Valuation 1850, John Ebrill holds property at:
  • Old Francis St.
  • John St (or John's St).

  • Cabbage Market lane.
    Formerly John St Little.
    Formerly Bushell's Lane.

  • Nicholas St.
    Old name for N end of Chapel St, later Cathedral Place.
    Near the RC cathedral.
    Not to be confused with the modern Chapel St in the new town.
    Not to be confused with Nicholas St in Englishtown.

  • Brennan's Row.
    Close to Chapel St. Near the RC cathedral.
    Formerly New John St.

  • Cassidy's lane.
    Off Pennywell. Near Garryowen Rd. Near the RC cathedral.

  • Garryowen.
    Would be Garryowen Rd, close to the previous.

  • Dwyer's Lane.
    Close to Garryowen Rd and Cassidy's Lane. Now vanished.

The ones in bold are apparently held by his son William Ebrill later (see below).
Possibly the others are too.

More than one property.
The property as at 1867 has street number of 25 Mungret St.
William Ebrill continued father's business on Mungret St.
He acquired new property on Mungret St.
Deed, 9 Aug 1851, Commissioners of Incumbered Estates to William Ebrill.
Ebrill business still on Mungret St in 1867.
Business then moved, but William Ebrill still held property in Mungret St.
Deed, 25 May 1871, Susan Parker to William Ebrill.
William Ebrill's will of 1887 left to his son George: 3 houses in Mungret St.
It is unclear if these include the old family home.
1957 document in Ebrill papers show Ebrill family still owned these 3 houses in 1934 and maybe in 1957.
1863 Ellen St 2 houses in Ellen St, Limerick.
Near Mungret St (see map).
Leahy deed of 1831 or 1863:
  • Deed of 1905 lists for the Ellen St houses a deed, Daniel Leahy to "John Ebrill" with date 10 Dec 1831, crossed out, changed to 10 Dec 1863.
  • If it is 1831, it is John Ebrill.
  • If it is 1863, it is William Ebrill.
  • Deed of 1932 says it is 1831.

William Ebrill's will of 1887 left to his son George: 2 houses in Ellen St, Limerick.
1957 document in Ebrill papers show Ebrill family still owned these 2 houses in 1934 and maybe in 1957.

1865 or earlier Chapel St and Brennan's Row Deed of 1905 lists these together:

  • 8 houses in Chapel St (now Cathedral Place).
  • 3 houses in Brennan's Row.

Deed of 1905 says they are at junction of Brennan's Row and Nicholas St (old name for N end of Chapel St).
These must be identical with some or all of the Nicholas St and Brennan's Row properties of 1850.

Deed, 12 Dec 1865, John Ryan Brennan to William Ebrill.
Copy of Deed of 1905 says the 8 houses in Chapel St and 3 houses in Brennan's Row went to William.
By 1867 18 Upper William St
1868-1869 5 Catherine Place William living here in 1868-1869
1871-1873 Thomas St William living here in 1871-1873
1879 Storey's lane and more Deed of 1905 bundles all of these together.
  1. 8 houses in Storey's Lane.
    Storey's Lane was off Old Francis St. It has since vanished.

  2. Property on Moloney's Lane.
    Moloney's Lane (also called Connell's Lane) was off Old Francis St. See 1870 map from here. It has since vanished.

  3. Property "lying without Saint John's Gate".
    St.John's Gate was at the edge of the old City of Limerick, between St.John's CoI church inside the city and St.John's RC cathedral outside the city (see old map).

  4. Property in John St and Old Francis St, and along the laneway joining the two streets.

  5. Property bounded by Storey's Lane and Old Francis St and John St.
A deed of 1842 is referred to in 1878 deed.

William Ebrill's will of 1887 left to his son Charles: 8 houses in Storey's lane and "3 houses in Irish Town".
Deed, 2 July 1888, Edith McDonnell and others to William Ebrill.

Deed of 1937 refers to properties 2 to 5 here, all apparently held by Charles.

1883 or earlier Garryowen and Dwyer's lane
  • 5 houses in Garryowen, E Limerick city.
    Deed of 1905 says location of these is between Garryowen Rd and Cassidy's Lane.
    Must be identical with some or all of the Cassidy's Lane and Garryowen properties of 1850.

  • 11 houses in Dwyer's lane. At about same location.
    Must be identical with the Dwyer's lane property of 1850.
Deed of 1905 lists deed of 1791, before Ebrill.
Ebrill business has address at Garryowen in 1875.
Deed of 1905 lists: Deed, 16 Feb 1883, Seymour to William Ebrill.
William Ebrill's will of 1887 left to his son Frank: 5 houses in Garryowen and 11 houses in Dwyer's lane.
Copy of Deed of 1905 shows Frank owning the 5 houses in Garryowen. And think also owning the 11 houses in Dwyer's lane.

Maybe by 1864 Summerville Cottage William is living "Summerville" in 1864.
Though later he is listed elsewhere.
He settled at "Summerville Cottage" by 1874.
