James O'Mara Papers in [NLI].
These papers are from my family. They were deposited by my grandmother's sister.
They are the papers of my great-grandfather James O'Mara.
Deposited by my grandaunt Patricia Lavelle in 1957.

Ms 21544(7) has an invite to James and his wife from the Prime Minister to a function at the Foreign Office.
- No year is given.
- It says Fri 28 June, which means it must be 1901 or 1907 (when he was an MP) or (less likely) 1912.
- It says the King's Birthday but think this would be the King's Official Birthday.
Accidentally put in this section is a letter of 25 Feb 1921 from Alice Cashel, who has just been sentenced to 6 months prison during the War of Independence.

- This is shortly after James was elected Free State TD for Dublin South.

- David Murphy was born in 1831 and lived in Limerick where he knew old James O'Mara and Stephen O'Mara.
- He says he lived on same street as O'Mara. He must mean Mungret St.
- Note there is a "Michael Murphy" at plot no. 58 on Mungret St in Griffith's Valuation, 1850.
